Stu, that just does not look right, aren't they all a little close together? Or are there that many lines on what looks quite a small exspanse of rock?

Wounder!

Are you serious stu?

I wish I wasn't - it's gonna be a hell of a job to try and strip that lot out and get rid of the stubs etc (but at least my hanger collection will about double)

the guys who took the photos said there were about 50 bolts placed some as close as 30cm apart - in answer to other questions, there's only about 5 established problems on the wall (none harder than V5 or higher than about 5m, and all above a perfectly flat granite landing that can be padded out very nicely) - a case of pattern bolting for no reason, thought or consideration...

I thought that, but having just magnified the photo, if it is a photoshop job, someone has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure all the bolts are slighlty different. So I guess it's real. Bizarre.

and everything went back to the way it should be... (other than a few small cement splodges)

a total of 55 bolts removed in all - one of the rope access companies (run by a climber) had set it up as training venue apparently

Not much aid training value in bolts spaced at 30cm, punters.

Dont let them know, they will ask for their hangers back

we've taken the moral high ground and left them in the climbing wall to see if they've the bottle to turn up, face the music and get their hangers back.

if they're still there in two-weeks we'll divvy them up amongst the main crag developers in HK to ease their financial losses (the start of a HK bolt fund....)
