would just like to clarify that it was the powerball that broke not the old wrist!

tearing up floorboards and other assorted DIY is also not good for the wrist as i have discovered (or getting out on the grit in the mintiest conditions in ages for that matter)

Started using my powerball again after reading this thread. I bought it nearly three years ago and since has done very little other than clutter my desk at work! It's definitely improved my grip and my scores are slowly improving.

Current PB is 10987 right hand
and 9856 Left hand

and 30s from standing start 3897.

I find listening to what my body wants to do is the best solution.
Sometimes I just jump right on and ride.
Other times, i might let the SUnday lunch settle, then do a good warm up on a chocolate cake, followed by a good rest to aid digestion and when fully ready do a couple hours yoga and i'm ready for a pull up.
Moderation is key to staying well for me.
Quite how i am able to stick to this ardous and punishing regime is beyond me.
Let me tell you sweat is a good friend of mine!

12k proved a real "mental barrier" to me. Took absolutely ages to crack it then broke the PB with my second go.

I am a surreptitious Powerballer, but reading this thread has got me psyched!

Gratifying it is to see Dense languishing at the bottom of the league.   8)

The adverts at the bottom of this thread are interesting:

Now I want high kicks and splits to be my second nature  :(

I might just get the Powerball out instead and see how rubbish I am.  :wank:

thread resurrection..

not my usual practice.. please bear with me, I've trawled through most of the last 33 pages but could do with some numpty advice..

just got my second Powerball, time at work seems too long and i've an office where I can shut the door and rev up on occasion.

my first one was bought to improve grip strength for DH MTB before the alps one year, prob helped a little  - though I wasnt too dedicated. I since lost it  :wall:

I'm keen to use this as an adjunct and perhaps help reduce injury by not necessarily going for these max rev comps but just a steady burn for each arm on rest days...

the last one i had I was forever fucking up the start cord spin...I'm under the impression you can start them by hand.. any advice? cheers!

Just hold it rotor down and run it along a clean surface to get the thing moving.

sorry Doc, thought you were taking the piss  :-[

I hold the ball round the equator band with my finger tips, with fingers straightish for more feel and easier/smoother rotation. I also find it easier with a few layers of strapal round it to improve feel.

I'll dig it out and video my cheating technique

Check these for tips:

Read the description about the imaginary line and making the circles. It should be a bit clearer how to start it. You can see in the second video, I exaggerate the circles to make it more obvious what motion is required.
