Crookstones, Crookrise & Fire risk
May 02, 2007, 12:03:35 pm
Anyone bouldered at these venues?
Crookrise: http://www.yorkshiregrit.com/crookrise.html
Crookstones: http://www.yorkshiregrit.com/hellifield.html
Also, anyone know if they are covered by any of the areas highlighted under the current fire risk closures on BMC website:

I think Crookstones and crookrise are both on the edge of Barden Moor.  The news article says that footpaths remain open, and I'm pretty sure there's a footpath up to crookrise, but I'm not sure about Crookstones.  It would probably be worth contacting the BMC to check if the Moor closure affects the crag or not, but I would hazard a guess that it would.

Ta, have emailed BMC, although I suspect they are probably receiving a lot of similar emails at the mo so am not expecting a reply straight away. Will post back here when I get a reply.

Both are on Barden Moor, so would suspect are closed to access. Is this the earliest in the year that a fire restriction has ever been in place?
