Thanks for that!

Here we go then. Please note, copywrite Jon Read.

And a couple of me coming outragiously close on the sitter:

The other way to do it is to match the undercut and to go over again with your right hand, although i didn't try it that way when i did it.

dunno about the sitter but i did the standup with left hand as an kinda undercut, both feet on and go over with right hand. this felt vastly easier than the other way, which i couldn't touch.

Caveat: a technical genius he may be, but Dave is also taller than Shaq.

agreed dave's beta is for giants. cuban's beta, (and some locals pointing to the precise footholds) yielded the desired effect.

Now I'm not usually one to jump to Dave's defence regarding issues of reach, cheating lank sequences, missing out hard moves etc., but...I am of normal size, and used the undercut sequence.

excellent, played right into my hands

Jim and Dense had been known to complain about my apparent lanking of problems, until we had a measure off (of spans!) in Magic wood last summer. They haven't mentioned it since.

As I like to winge about as much as possible, I'm 5'10" with a 5'8" span. I 'll take your T Rex and raise you a Kangaroo.

i am a princely5 10 and a half, my daft apeth is 5 8. i do however have a long (slim) body and short (powerful) legs. to be fair, i tried john's sequence first and did it in 5 or so goes, felt fairly easy that way so didn't really try the other with any vigour having already done it, and with my girlfriend having wandered off in a strop i felt obliged to go find her.  (she was warned i was going climbing before you start. ) very keen to go back for the sitter (but may have to wait til my codfinger recovers...)

andy i have moved the moaning onto how you have a better body position for lime, due to your inverse tardis stature.  :P

Andy, you have either
  • a tardis body that measures a lot shorter than it actually is
  • or have go-go gadget arms that you only extend when no one is looking

andy just stands further away from you than all the tall guys to appear shorter than he really is.

Bearing in mind, when this measuring took place Jim and dense both had not inconsiderable appendages prising them away from the wall, adding further doubt to their whingeing.  Alarm bells should really start ringing when they start banging on about Doctor Who in a Northumberland thread.  Geeks.

Back to the measure off.  It took place shortly after our first trip to the supermarket.  Jim had pooled everyone's money together in his money clip and, in a move which exasperated dense, blew the lot on Fanta and apricots.

After guzzling the lot his, erm, core muscles had dilated to dangerous proportions.  I would hazard a guess it accounted for a three inch shortfall in his apeindex when he stretched out against the wall. Happily once dense had resumed control of the purse strings Jim was cruising 7cs.  Onsighting the easy top sections as he went.

And as for dense, he'll forever be cursed with that penis.  A half inch shortfall in his case.
