Dynoes.....from around the world....
March 20, 2007, 10:20:05 am
I need some help.  I'm trying to compile a list of dynos and have loads for the UK and a few in Spain and France but am struggling for elsewhere.  Does anyone know of any dynos outside the UK which are big, technical, interesting or just plain hard to send.  Heights, grades, locations, links, photos, videos, first ascenionists, the usual etc...

I've been following the Who's dyno's biggest thread and so got some info from there....I need more!

Cheers
Luc

there's one straight through the Ironman traverse at V9 or some other grade. I have never been so exact location is unknown but it's in America.

Only non European ones in that thread are some posted by HK Stuey, one in Castle Hill Basin and Saturday Night Live at J Tree (V4?).

He didn't say he wanted non-European, he said non-UK. There are quite a few Italian ones. Also, the only one I know -

Dinos Don't Dyno - V8 - Magic Woods.

Hi

This is great. Thanks to everyone who's contributed so far.  It's keeping me nice and busy :-)

I am interested in dynos from all over; be they in Europe or elsewhere.  I think that I have covered the obvious in the UK but can never be sure.  Here's what I have on the UK:

Undercut Dyno
Greg's Dyno
Foot Sicks
7 Foot Dyno
Catapult
Learning to Fly
Vienna
Ridiculous Dyno
Kirton Dyno
Georges Wall
Buckstone Dyno
One arm bandit
Nexus Dyno
Young American
Megatron
Unjust Dyno
Maurice Gib
Sly Stallone
Crash and Gurn
The Big Dyno
Green Room Slap
Jet Pack
Rocket Man
Hurricane
Tank
Solid Air
The Niche Dyno
Chez Dyno
Ed's Dyno
Trowbarrow Dyno
Deliverance

I am sure there are many more.  Keep em' coming as I am making quite a list here!

Looking forward to seeing what else turns up.

Thanks again for your help so far.

Cheers
Luc

I know, I only made an observation.

Recent thread on Scottish ones. Not particularly useful though.

I checked out the Mur des Carriers at Franchard Sablons this morning. A very coool dyno wall. With a 7a, 7b, 7b+, 7c+, 8a, 7a all right next to each other, all pretty similar and fun. The 8a (Rainbow Rocket) is amazingly far, you would have to be 8ft tall or have legs like a cricket I reckon! :bounce:

I assume you are using the formula

p = jf-2

where jf = Johnny Foreigner's Grade and p = Proper British Grade (aka TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNNES and the only sure path to ENLIGHTENMENT/DEPRESSION)

I was using the:

Dylan = Shit at dynos

Therefore when Dylan Crushes problem in a couple of tries grade = piss

Magic Grades.  The clue is in the title

Hi Ian

Chez Dyno...that is the "coronation dyno" isn't it?  I remember trying this many many years ago.  A Spanish friend on mine came over to High Rocks with us in 2003 and did it 3rd go....he's a bit of a specialist in these things!  Thanks for the other dynos at High Rocks.  I've got'n a little out of touch with things down on the sandy stuff...still thinks it's great and always look forward to coming back to it.

Cheers

You're missing loads from Font.  Smatch, and Hale Bopp for starters, but I'm sure you can look them all up somewhere.  Do Dyno's on Routes count?   Orangutan Out Of Jungle Book.  Said to be V9, but noone's repeated it as far as I know.

Hi Paz

I think I've got Smatch as Smash  will amend.  Hale Bopp's in there....blimey how quickly do you guys type?!  Must be my busted pulley slowing me down or something.

Dyno's on routes.  I was thinking about this.  They could do.  I'll make a note by them to make sure they're identifiable as a dyno on a route.  So into my list I must add Hugh at Les Eaux Claire or is it UFO....I can't remember precisely but either one of these has a big dyno in a sort of groove on it.

Keep it coming. This is great!!!!

Cheers

No idea about names at rocklands, must be loads though.

There's the Lung Dyno, V4 at Quantum Fields, NZ. I couldn't get to the hold before the dyno though.

Hey Gus

No it wasn't on the list, so thanks very much.  I should have had it there as I know that a couple of my Spanish climbing buddies have done this one.

Oh, yes, it's on there now :-)

I was replying to your first list, hadn't read the second sans-UK one!  I wouldn't assume I've got Smatch right, there're a few different versions, but I'm pretty sure it's not Smash.

Have a wad for being a fellow dyno obsessive.
In your UK list I suspect "The Big Dyno" is the same as "The Undercut Dyno".
