Two bridges chipped by locals years back sixties talk Al Rouse's day
Bear witness to some of the countries finest bridge climbing
One with mega roof
One with crimpy testing walls and slabs
Awesome
And crash padd friendsly
Wouldnt trust the bolts anymore
Kim Thompson is responsible for the harder ones
Who ever he is?
Mr mystery man Salomons Seal rumoured to actually be 8b
Is anyone Keen enough?
Many a fine climber has tested themself at these venues
Come join the fun and weeds oh and yes the artful spray painting
Just ask for directions :devangel:

Long Road and Fen Ditton. Some of the finest have cut their teeth there.

I work 10 minutes walk from LOng Road bridge and haven't climbed there for years! I live here and do indeed like climbing, so I don't know what that says about the place (or me). I might go again soon though... Some nice mono moves. As for history, well lots of folks chipped in (sorry) including me 15-20 years ago. I climbed the nice arete with nut runners before it was bolted. The bigger bolts might still be OK but the 8mm ones do break out (if there's any left). With all the graffiti the place has less friction than Minus 10, but not such good climbing and more rubbish. An oasis of urban decay in the rural wilderness.

Hohohoho
Urban bolting decay
Ohh the youth of yesterday

Confession

I and unnamed locales were responsible for the majority of the bolts allegedly, this was eighties style of evolution no pads and stoney ground and litter below
We were sponsored by ActionSports with a generator to aid hours of bashing allegedly
hohoho
It was crazy fun allegedly
Good effort for leading with nuts, the peg and bolt arrived before my time, but alas the dodgy peg has gone west
Two drills hammered away saving hours of pain allegedly
We used to drive down there in our parents VW allegedly and do donuts my bro lay spread eagled on the roof and i used to break like a bastard and do handbreak turns, still he clung on, thus his legendary finger strength

Climbed there a bit lately last few years, edging on layers of spray paint, until it creases of and plop
Some wicked probs and a few have only had one or two ascents
Two cool traverses one about 7c/+ the other about 7a+ but doesnt extend the full length of the wall
It would be good to see more use
I bless Merlin the Wizard and Fran-kly Mr Shanklyn for their vision
If anyone wants a tour name the time and date soon though cos these flat lands leave me low

Hmm. I'll think about that! Have we met before? I organised a couple of comps at the KK early '90s. Not been about much recently.

Ena's my little brother, and I'm a bit worried.  I know he'll say he's a big boy now and I don't need to look after him anymore, but...

Then again, I am a bit excited that he'll get a UKB scoop.
