About half as strong at one armers as some of the climbers on here are/have been, e.g. see Doylos Perky Pinky

Yeah, there are plenty of climbers on this forum who are as strong as that, if not stronger. Although it appears that they all just bitch/whine all day they are actually good and strong climbers.

I am in awe of simpsons strength and am aware he can do more than nine one armers, however the one armers done from a total dead hang and all 'straight on' are somewhat harder. Though I bet the guy in the video cant come close to doing that from a doorframe.

or indeed climb a hard boulder problem. there is a big difference between being able to do a bunch of one arm pulls on a bar, and being strong on rock.

Not sure where this rumour has come from? There's a video floating around in the quality bouldering vid thread with him and Caldiero (I think it is) pissing about on that fingerboard challenge thingy and he pretty much does one there. If you're going to get all textbook on my ass about it not being from long-arm, please feel free  ::)

not at all, i was counting down the seconds to be proven wrong anyway  :) ...and my one armers start from suspiciously close to 90 degrees so i can't be arguing with anyone. about anything.

Sorry smoggie, that wasn't meant to sound at all off-hand. As we all know, sarcasm and tone doesn't transmit too well across this medium. If you're starting sub 90 degree, sounds like you're onto a winner there ;)

This is an old video that has had the YouToob treatment.  Impressive for the general public (just look at the comments) but doing pulls on a bar is nowhere near as impressively strong as finger work.  Even that bit at the end of One Summer kicks this dudes arse.  Maybe if this guy wore really tight purple shorts it would be better?
Ahh.  Me lats are pumped
