Mcr Climbing Centre 2006/2007 comp
October 10, 2006, 11:46:43 pm
Starts Friday 20th October, stumbled across it on their website, not heard anything about it prior to that so they're not advertising it too well.
http://www.manchesterclimbingcentre.com/news.htm
Thrid Friday of every month apart from December, presumably to avoid clashing with Christmas.

Anyone thinking of entering?

The results for this comp are at the bottom of the News page of the website, not the competitions page, for anyone who wants to know how they've done.

  Thanks.  Amazing what can happen when a few strong people don't turn up, and a couple of others have a bad day because their granny fed them up on hotpot, or they had been working since 6am.  :)  Normal service will be resumed next round I'm sure.

They're giving an overall prize out this time and not a prize each round, which makes sense really as I'm sure Stu would rather get some big cotswolds vouchers or large bouldering mat, rather than pairs of shoes that he gets for free anyway.  But it also means that anyone that misses two rounds isn't really going to be in the running for the overall thing, which could make things a little interesting if some stronger guys miss 2 rounds, leaving us mere mortals fighting for the chalk bag prize.

I'm sure normal service will be resumed when Tom Sugden returns, leaving the scraps for the rest...

To all going down this Friday 16/2, I won't see you there. After my pathetic perfomances this year I'm jacking the series. The hassle of getting down there and then getting my ass whooped :spank: as I climb like a donkey with it's hind legs removed has left me as motivated as a student with 2oz of Northern Lights and a cupboard full of beans.

Retirement calls amigoes, it was fun whilst it lasted.

on a side note, what made it possible to build a wall in a church?
i would like to finally have a reason for entering a church here also.

Easy - big empty high space that no-one used anymore = idea venue for a climbing wall.
There's a few around the UK built in old disused churches - Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol to name 3 off the top of my head.

Oh, you right about them giving people a genuine reason to enter a church.

To anyone thinking of going to the next round it is a week earlier so it doesn't clash with the outdoor show.  Thankfully I won't be going to the last round to climb like a donkey as I'll be climbing like a donkey in Font.

I might be being stupid but....
http://www.manchesterclimbingcentre.com/competitions.htm

25 problems, 10 points for a flash...

and twice winners have 250+ points.
You do the math.

they seem to have 27 usually, dunno why. Guess it's just a number that fits the walls well..
