CWIM
February 01, 2007, 04:38:37 pm
Press Release
One week after the European Championships in Birmingham, The Climbing Works in Sheffield (the Worlds biggest dedicated bouldering wall) will host a Masters competition which will be open to all of the very best climbers in the World.

By way of motivation for the competitors, there will be a prize fund of £4500 for this event!

The format of the event will be as follows. The qualification period will be in the morning. First Women and then men will have a two hour qualification period where they will attempt 10 problems. The level of difficulty of these problems will be from Font 6b to Font 7b for the Women and Font 7a to Font 7c+ for the Men.
The best 6 men and women from the qualification round will go through to the final.

The final round will take place in the evening, and will consist of 6 problems to be attempted on-sight

After the event, there will be a huge party organised in conjunction with Heason Events and Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (SHAFF)

The route setting team for the event will be the same as for the European Championships, guaranteeing some of the finest and most spectacular problems you will have ever seen!

The Climbing Works International Masters Bouldering Competition will be filmed for future TV broadcast and DVD release, and due to the fact that the European Championships has been held in Birmingham only 6 days prior to the competition, the turnout of top climbers from overseas is expected to be very high. World Cup Champion, Jerome Meyer from France, has already expressed an interest in attending the event along with a load of French superstars. Spectators for this event will be able to watch the event for free.

The weekend of the competition is also the culmination of the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (SHAFF) and so there will be many other activities for visiting climbers to do, and a load of good new climbing films to watch.
The other main attraction for attending this competition will be hosted climbing in the Peak District. Many of Sheffield’s local climbers will be on hand to give guided tours of the local gritstone climbing to visiting boulderers.

If they're windy then you've likely chosen the wrong hole.

What about getting in a comp for world class banter and excuses?

I reckon I can still onsight banter F8a+

Although my level of excuse generation has slipped down to a poor 7a due to Jupiter being opoosed to Mars

'The WHOLE place was CRAWLING with CWIM!'. Name the classic comedy series. Genius. My money is on Bonjoy being a fan.
