Been waiting for this to come out, just found out my credit card number has been stolen and had to cancel the card, so now must wait to order the vid!  :wall:

Whilst waiting it occurs to me, are British DVDs coded differently than US type? We had this problem in France, couldn't play the French DVDs on a US machine.

In theory yes they are coded differently, however lots of dvds now are non regional especially on small run things like this cos its cheaper! Also loads of dvd players are multi regional. Might be worth checking before you buy though

I doubt it'd be regionally coded but its pretty easy to get around by coping it or by hacking your dvd player. most DVD players have a hack to make them multiregion.
HERE is a good starting place to look

Hacking is a piece of piss, especially if it's a cheap DVD player. The cheaper ones are more mass produced so the components are identical the only regional difference being the code they put in. Mine was £50 and now plays US and Far East DVDs.

Anyone know what the track used on the trailer is? On the current trailer it starts around 30 seconds in.

Cheers.

it is the alliance, a kind of lib-lab pact for the cover. a few of us started to call it burbage earl to distinguish it from burbage south, cos the rock reminded us of earl crag, a good few years ago. please can we have no retro-claiming on the name, i named it that 2 years before you etc etc

Received it for Christmas and was impressed by the whole thing including the variety of music. Particularly liked the boulder-off format too!

Perhaps should have lasted a little less time as it did, and maybe gone to a tie-breaker, but a novel idea none the less. How come you weren't climbing in it Dense?

don't get me wrong i liked the idea of a face-off. wanted to see them doing the same probs tho, preferably in different ways as suits there own innimitable styles. just found them doing different probs stupid for that scenario. that's my only negative about the vid. aside from the obvious i don't climb in it ;)
as for me not being in it, i didn't deserve to be. most of the vid was shot early last year and this was the tail end of me climbing like a sack of shit for 18 months. that and other things like when i did have a couple of moments they were filming everybody and their dogs on spare rib etc. it was enough to know that i motivated thomas ;)

The best bit of the video for me is seeing all the new problems at unfamiliar places away from the usual honeypots...

that's my only negative about the vid.

I dunno, personally thought the text / graphics effects were quite lame and would have been a lot better with clean cuts to include them instead of dodgy effect fade ins, flaming words etc...

The climbing footage was pretty good though (apart from the bits that cut off before people actually finished problems - pet hate) - gave it the ultimate test of viewing from a couple of mates who've never even touched grit (never even heard of Brad Pit either) and they liked it

Aye, I hear you on the titles, but can you imagine a 'non-serious' (as claimed by the producers) bouldering film obeying the 'serious' codes of television. It'd end up more like News at Ten.

Personally, I find the flaming titles and camp pink type rather endearing  :-*

It was a little strange how the boulder-off wasn't on the same problems yes. As you say Falling Down, it was great seeing 'new' venues for us non-peak locals.

Here's to an end to climbing doldrums for the new year Dense.

and also the profesors of pinch section where he is put to shame by adam
dynamite

Multiple Choice Quiz:

The Pebble Mill traverse is shown as 7b+ in the DVD..

So.... is it

(A) The caption is wrong;
(B) Something has fallen off it and it's got harder;
 or (C) I somehow climbed 7b+ nearly ten years ago

Which one is it? (I suspect I know the answer)

The answer is: (D) it actually refers to Pebble Mill Traverse into Pepper Mill (the Pepper Linkup), which is V9/7b+

Re: Double Bum.  It's at Gardoms, about 30 yards to the right of Apple Arete.  And, like the name suggests, it is tres bon.

Double Bum is at Gardom's middle/south, not far from the new stuff I did a few month back. If you have a route guide it's the bay to the right of Cydrax in the Apple Buttress area. Some info and directions on this thread: http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,6239.40.html
It's a top move, big lunge for a horizontal pinch.
