is my eyes tom, or have you got some sort of funky lens on your camera that's shifting the perspective?

To quote Mrs Tone on seeing the last one of those - that's a good one of you...it makes you look tall!

it's the 10-20mm lens, shorter focal lengths tend to elongate limbs, etc.  Sometimes with freaky effects, check out the length of tlr's fingers & arms in this shot:

Distortion.

Lens correction profiles can help, you can even de-fish fish-eyes as I was shown the other day by some guy with good footwork.

the sigma 10-20 does have some distorsion but what you're seeing above is mainly due to placing a very wide lens about an inch from the guys fingertips.

;D I'll bring it out next time! I really like the one of Nai - theres a real 'I'm gonna get you' glint of determination in his eye as he measures up the jump... For the interested photography types, those were all shot using live view and the flippy outy lcd on a D5000 which is pretty handy for low down & high up shots...

Ah sweet! Figured out how to post pics. Here's a few from Josh.

Edit: had to edit this like five times to get the pics to come through. Not sure why Flickr has to be so difficult. :)

would someone care to identify the problem they are on? It looks pretty.

(also - slackers - how do I make my images not too big like this one?)

Unless I'm blind there's no one on any problem they're all stood around looking at the boulder.

Any idea of the area?  Might help people with identifying the problems on the boulder.

With regards to size, you can either resize it before uploading to the web or if its not your picture see if there is a way of getting Simple Machines Forum to resize embedded pictures (not sure if you can, but check the SMF documentation).  Or download, resize and rehost elsewhere.

As Richie says the area is rocher fin the bloc they're all stood around is le cube. the obvious arete is a good blue on the left (4+ish), and the finish of an awesome red on the right (6Aish)
One of my favourite spots in the forest.

Super!

I was hoping one side would have some meat to it. Adding it to the list now  :)

And apparently the middle of the face is a 7a+

7a+ slab/wall in font isn't going to be easy

It's OK, and a nice problem. A bit of a mantelly start, pushing over a sidepull, followed by some steady crimping.

Indeed, but it's not like I've  never managed one before...
Andy, how tall are you? IIRC I could get stood up after the mantle, but then ran out of holds and ideas  don't recall any "steady crimping".

apologies for  :offtopic:
