Simon, please, please post that awful photo from that quarry in the Clwyds.  I know it's not bouldering, but the photo is so bad, it needs to be posted.

That's one of the most arty climbing photos ever taken Fatneck! Tell your youngest daughter to get involved with the contemporary arts scene.

Gutted I missed your day out.

Oh, and I can pretty much upload my entire climbing history's photographic archive in this thread. Much of it is on the NWBP site anyway. I'll see what I can find..

Thank you Simon, now I can look at that terrible photo anytime I want (presuming I'm at a computer connected to the net of course).

I love the way it captures the the grass sprouting out of the rock and little else; not even half of the climber in question is in shot.  Brilliant.  Get your kids to register on UKB and they can have some waddage from me.

So, having spent the majority of the last 3 years sports climbing, I have neglected the other forms of climbing - trad and of course bouldering.

Last December, I decided I needed to improve my power and technique and have focussed more on bouldering specifically, as well as getting into trad.

Having said this, I still have only really bouldered properly 3 times outside (less than sports and trad).
This being said, I have really enjoyed ALL three times and am definitely going to do more dedicated bouldering trips.
The first was Robin Hood's Stride, as it was raining I hit the Cave. The second, was two weekends ago up in the peaks. Again, it was raining, so we hit Ravens Tor - awesome time and was shown the ropes by Stoney - sure a lot of people will know him.
Finally, I have just come back from another trip to the peaks last weekend (a flying day trip). The conditions weren't great for grit - spending the morning and early afternoon at Stanage (trad), then the afternoon at Gardom's Edge. Saturday was crazily humid and just too hot, making vertical easy problems relying on crimpy grit holds impossible!
As a result, we hit the cave where Mark's Roof is...and what a delight!
Below is the link to some pics on flikr - didn't quite get it, but definitely going to return for the left-hand problem with better conditions on my side. Thinking the flake at the end could be the crux of it, as the rest went pretty quickly.
Also, what's the score with the sit start? There are two boulders on the floor, and they are clearly used for feet...is this allowed, or do you have to start with a heel hook?
I posted them here as they are clearly not worthy of the good quality pics thread!

As you're using Flickr, have a read of Backlinking the easy way.

Below is the link to some pics on flikr - didn't quite get it, but definitely going to return for the left-hand problem with better conditions on my side. Thinking the flake at the end could be the crux of it, as the rest went pretty quickly.

Both the left hand, and the normal starts are easy enough to just sit on a pad, chuck up the right heel and go. Not much different to couching, but at least you will know you definitely get the tick. The left hand start might be more of a heel-toe lock, but either way it's not the hard bit.

When you say "flake at the end" I'm assuming you don't mean the juggy sidepull flake, a foot above your hands in that last photo. Because that bit is the easy bit. I'd say the hardest bit of both the left hand problem, and the one you're doing in the photos (i.e. original into left hand finish) is holding the swing on the jug. On the left hand problem you're fairly stretched, and if you can't get your feet around, then it's gonna spit  you off, and on the original into the left hand finish, I personally am pretty knackered by the time I get there. However I can suggest moving your right hand closer before matching on the jug.

Just under the lip there's a reasonable hold in the big hole. From here:

move your LH to the hole hold. Then bring your RH to where your LH was. Then bring your RHeel in as close as possible, and then go to the jug with your LH. Match with RH easily, and without swinging. Top out easily.

Nice thank's Drew! And I'd like to see that vid Highrepute.

Yeh, was starting with feet on blocks, so I'll start with heel/toe like you said...I didn't find the swing that bad...think I was pussying out a little bit at the end (I know it's not high), just had one boulder mat, and the spotter was taking pics...meaning a slip (in conditions) and I would have landed on those few boulders at the base...haha - it was a juggy flake, think I was just gassing...I tried it with a high heel and toe on said hold underneath...think it will go next time! Great problem though and thanks for the beta!

Nice. Not sure where The Kee is though. Looks remarkably similar to the Keel  ;)
