Peanut butter!!!!!!

God no, that is WRONG mate, WRONG.

In fact, it should be banned - forthwith

sainsbury's organic baked beans are nice, again too much sauce in the tin, but they taste almost smokey... recommended

No, no, no, no, no (13 times as per The Wonderstuff).

I was just going to post my congratulations to everyone for turning an innocuous thread about beanies into a wonderful homage to beans on toast.  Please don't go ruining all our good work by reverting to talking about headwear.   ;)

And re: Fatdoc's comment about peanut butter.  Do not diss da butter man.  It triumphs in foodstuff top trumps.

Ah Beanies, Beans, all the same I suppose. I personally find the quest to get the perfect beans on toast more intriguing than metaphysics and questions pertaining to the existence of higher beings.

sorry to point it out but down here, at 5pm, after two hours at the fingerboard with no food intake, beans and beanies are NOT the same!!!!!

Oh for God's sake, are you boulderers or what??

More interested in perfecting the staple student diet than in the majesty of winter headwear... ???

I for one value the bean and the beanie equally.

For beans on toast, it's got to be a good, seedy malted loaf. The beans of course are heated on the stove. The additon of a swirl of Hendersons relish is like a taste of heaven.

For beanies, I took a lovely photo of my particularly fine beanie collection; however I am completely inept and can't work out how to post it. :(

Call yourselves Baked Bean connoisseurs?  What a bunch of punters.
In my world the number one rule is: DONT BOIL YOUR BEANS. The miserable effort displayed by Ben F cleary had the arse boiled off them: Juice cloudy with the  beans lacking form and clarity. It doesn't matter how much Hendos, cheese or peanutt butter you add if you don't respect the raw material. And on a side note controlled blind testign indicated to me that HP are the bean kings. Heinz of course will allways be the solid standby, but if you really want to taste heaven, it has to be HP.

Baked beans are foul - it's always mystified me how anyone can like them.

C'mon people, lets share the love.  Let's not all fall out over how we like our beans.  At the end of the day we're all just human beans.

Sorry.

Again.

I await the negative karma.

PS: Fiend, I wear your negative karma like a badge of honour.  I am proud to have derailed your beanie thread.  Look what beauty has sprung from your original theme...

Double buttering the toast is essential too; butte ronce immediately.....
I know it's a typo, but I like it.

I feel I have not yet reached my full potential as a student- in the 5 weeks of being here I've not eaten a single baked bean...

that is because for the first 5 weeks you still have cash. Give it time, the baked bean era will arrive. I can also reccomend tapioca as a very cheap and filling dinner. bit of tapioca (dried) some sugar, milk and raisens-half an hour in the oven and you have something that convinces your body that you have eaten a full meal.

You'll know you're in trouble when this happens to you:

Quote Houdini Coke Fizz thread:

"Jez Stephenson was so hungry (and foodless) one time he ate a plate of ketchup with rizlas.  Shit thee not."

amen to that - i'd take those new branston beans over HP though.

The best beans however are those kind of generic catering quality beans you get in motorway service station restaurants (or cross channel ferries) where they form part of a full english and have been set on a hotplate for several hours in oe fo those big metal inset icecream-tub type things, over a low heat, with all the excess liquid gradually evaporating off them, and cooking to fall-appart tenderness. lovely and thick and shit - winner. problem wi to emulate that at home you would need to cook a tin of beans for about 48hours above a tealight and you'd only end up with a tablespoonsworth.
