MP3 player recomendations
October 09, 2006, 03:31:06 pm
I know very little about these but I have been instructed to buy one for my father in law so need a little help.
Spec will be:
use: mainly in the car or at the gym
capacity: not massive, up to about 20gigs tops
ease of use: needs to be very easy to use
size: needs to have big easy to use buttons due to poor sight and reluctance to carry glasses around

thanks
Jim

i'm a massive fan of iPods, I have iRivers in the past but much prefer the interface of the iPod, not sure how well it works with Windows, but with Mac its perfect. They are pretty reliable now as well, and if they do break in the first year, apple send you a box to put your broken one in, and send you a brand new on, really quick turn around

Who is in jail? C'mon jim, we all know its for you. Its a sad state when the wife is even monitoring your internet use. Though having seen all the car mods hidden behind your board you can't blame her....

Happy anniversary word

after my big i-pod was nicked  decided to change mp-3 playerr..........and ended up getting a      i-pod! Got a nano 8gig, 24 hrs battery life. I had a 20gig i-pod before and to be honest if your using your computer to download stuff continually i found the big i-pod to be a pain. Lots of music on it thatyou never listened to and bit cumbersome

Anapod explorer gives you iPod drag/drop.

But still leaves you the same thing underneath.

I'm not a big fan of the tag-based library structure that Apple uses - I'd be much happier just using files and directories.

Jimberly,
a little plugin for winamp called mlipod is pretty usefull.  Easy to use and doesnt wipe any new ipod plugged in or fuck with your music like itunes does :wank:.  The new version of winamp has ipod suport as standard which is very nice also.

cheers mike & james.
uncle - it was decided that all that would be used was the shuffle songs anyway and that the nano would be better for in the gym (were it is supposed to be being used)

I mean that the windows software allows drag and drop of files, but the iPod still uses the same tag based system. Anapod Explorer is better than iTunes imho.

It'd be nice to be able to patch the actual iPod to use files/folders instead of tags.

well seems the cracked version of anapod floating around doesn't work with new ipods or old ones with new firmware.
shit
I'll try that winamp shizzle then.
I take it everyone else with ipods uses iTunes?

I take it your friendship with dense was forged through a mutual hatred of all things Apple.  He's been round here a few times trying to print off his CV.....usually leaving with a frustrated demeanour, muttering "Fucking apple."
