Ferret Roulette
October 15, 2006, 09:47:21 pm
I had a day out with the kids today at the Butterfly House near Worksop.
It was genuinely good fun, but there was one thing which stuck with me.
In one of the displays, the staff brought out a vertical tube with 8 pipes coming out horizontally at angles from it at the bottom. Kids were selected from the audience to chose a pipe and stand by it. Then a ferret was dropped in the top tube, kids shouted to try and get the animal to emerge from their tube, if it did they won a prize.

Children, gambling and ferrets  - all human needs catered for

Birds of prey were great. Honestly thrilling - even for a cynical old git like me.
No snake action

Is it just me or is the ferret gambling thing weird ?
