I enjoyed the characters though Brad Pitt's seemed rather satellite.
Or else, the Pitt's character is removed from the film in some way, i.e. just orbiting around it without having much to do with it. Perhaps: "WTF is that character doing in this story?".
Similes often obfuscate the meaning that is trying to be conveyed and are pretty pointless I think.
