The Snake Pass

Is it open or not? thats the A57 for those who dont know, but the Glossop advertiser reports that it will be shut for three weeks whilst roadworks are completed - starting yesterday!
Sure enough, it was shut yesterday am (as was Winnats) but I know at least one person came back over in the evening with no issues - so, is it open or what?

Local news this morning had the snake shut at a6013 which is the ladybower bridge, depends what there doing up there. If there just resurfacing then they prob re-open later on. However it was collapsing again last time i drove over so prob totally shut?

The fuckin idiots persist in building a bloody great stone wall across a landslip, only for it to fall down the hill as the road settles following a downpour. Never mind, we'll build another one. This is happening on a four month cycle at present, some contractor is making a killing building castles on sand at great expense. Really glad I'm not commuting over there at present, someone needs their head examining.

Well, she phoned Derbyshire council (it is her commute at the mo) and they told her it will be mostly closed until the 22nd. It will intermittently be open, but dont rely on it. Cheers Derbyshire council.

I forged a path through the snake this morning. Lots of resurfacing work for 2 or 3 miles from the reservoir. I mumbled something about having to visit a sick cat in the Snake Inn, and told them that they did not want to see my papers. They said they did not want to see my papers, and I passed through. Once past the blockage, I enjoyed a fine and quiet bit of motoring to Glossop City.

Good stuff, that needs doing. Any sign of how they are dealing with the landslip?
