Community police officers!
June 20, 2006, 03:27:25 pm
So I'm riding down a one way system on my bike (wrong way) after passing 2 community officers and 2 real police men and I encounter a 3rd set who shout at me and then physically knock me off my bike :jaw:

Now I know I'm in the wrong for cycling on pavements and the wrong way down 1 way streets but I ain't no criminal (the one way systems in London are criminal) and as far as I see it I've been the victim of common assalt

What rights to these wanna be police men have and do I have a case to see a lawyer?

stop whingeing, if nothing else you failed the attitude test and therefore don't have a leg to stand on.

It's a shame you were not hurt (something that looked worse than it actually was, say, a scalp cut) in your dismount: you could have had some real fun in the courts  ;)

Come to The Reich dude, they let you ride on the pavement here, and mow down as many as you see fit.

A well thought out reply there Sloper  :wank:

Any police who enforce the pavement law is a bit of a tosser, unless it's packed with pedestrians or something.

I've just cycled back from work and used pavement for about 4 out of 6 miles. I was passed by two police cars neither of which even looked at me.

Until we get a decent supply of cycle paths, then use the pavements.

Conversely, I got a bollocking for riding slowly for about 20 yrds on a pavement in London by some stroppy wpc. Her reason was cos I was within 100 yrds of a tube station "a crime blackspot". The fact that I was on my way to a yoga class and not about to snatch a handbag didn't impress. Not a even a smile. Another example of one law for them and another for us. It's grim down south! :)

several years ago i got stopped for riding no handed and was read the riot act.which led me to ask the officer was there a shortage of criminal activity that day and did he have nothing better to do. this obviously didn't impress as i then got a letter from some high up plod saying they were not going to prosecute this time but don't do it again.

So exactly what criminal offence is riding with no hands?

I think it depends what else you're doing with your hands at the time...

yeah i think it was this.rumour had it in my cycling club that the offence of riding a bike whilst under the influence you could still recieve a sentence of transportation.
might be worth trying for a one way ticket to australia
