Finding 'Beyond the Out-There.'
June 14, 2006, 07:56:20 pm
Any of you chaps/chapettes got the knowledge about the most ludicrously out-there places to boulder?

The real pain in the asses places to visit.  With boulders.  Lots of boulders.  The kind of places that require many forms of transport, maybe even abseils or ascents to eventually get to the spot.  What's the most difficult/remote places to get to that you've found some quality rock and moves, but some how wish you'de gone to Font' instead?

Not keen for jungle environments @ the mo', but wouldn't mind going through a jungle to get to a desert, if you know what I mean.

These are pretty out there - not been myself but I reckon there's lots of potential.

Ah yes!

Armstrongs' Mantle SDS.  The rock's not quite as good as it looks from Hubble...  And the $39,000,000,000 return flight puts that 2nd asc. a bit out of my price range...

The North end of the Rubha Coigeach headland at Reiff has some unbelievable looking stuff. Monster boulders on sea platforms, all of the finest Torridon Sandstone. Hour and a half walk to get to, on top of the drive , about an hout and some NW of Ullapool on single lane roads.

This boulder is on the approach to Squareface, two hours on a bike plus an hour and some to walk in from Tomintoul

You'd be terribly gutted to get there and split your tips on the first problem.
