Careful Bubba, your fur-lined, gold-encrusted Impartial Administrator's Hat* is slipping down a bit  ;)

* surely this should be an Impartial Administrator's Beanie, of course

Actually Kilnsey's bone dry at the minute AFAIK, but the lack of a belayer for his 'ascents' is erm, slightly dubious...

how can someone be arsed putting so much time and energy into all these lies? It was a funny joke once upon a time, now it's just a little sad, no, wait, very sad. Whoever is behind this whole thing, don't you have anything better to do? I guess not. The blog is filled with nonsensical shit, your scorecard is abuse on a global scale... basically, I'm just jealous because I'm so shit and you're so good.

I think "Comedy" is the most significant ascent in that list.

I've had great fun reading through Mr O'Connor's comments next to each of his new routes and problems.  Total class.  Whatever you think of his ascents or claims, he certainly writes a good comment.  Long may he continue to climb and write this stuff.

I particularly like:

"Toul a' Roigh An t-Suil - The Eye, which is most clearly visible from the Habost machair, is more of a landmark of legends for locals than it is a place to climb. The project takes on the awesome eye of the storm & crosses this at it's widest steepest section. Not so long ago, I was 3 moves away from doing it before conceding that the bolts needed replaced. Watch this space for 2006."

Most people would say "roof", but no, this an "awesome eye of the storm".

and...

"When you climb down into the washing machine, this is the one that hits you between the eyes. You sit on the slab opposite & enter a dream state trying to visual moves & sequences. Your palms sweat but your heart beats with excited anticipation. A few years later, you re-discover your metal & do it; & none of the awe you had on first seeing the line is lost. In fact it has grown. Back on that same slab where you dreamed an hour or two away, squinting up towards the chalk trail in afternoon sunlight, you're glad it's over, your fingers are torn & ache, your brain is numb & everything on your tongue tastes of cordite, but it still feeds your fire...You almost want to chance another round & make death whimsical."

Maybe he just likes abuse, after all madam / mister whiplash opportunities are probably few on the ground and very expensive that far north.

Perhaps I should collect some call box cards when I'm in London next week?

While my 'new' routes on my new crag may have not been so new, I can at least say that I dragged my fat arse up them.

Mind you whether the same will be true of my firstascent on stanage a classic multipitch E7 who can say.

Interesting to see he's not accepting comments about his photo's now either. See http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=45594 for details. Now is it just me or does this photo look very staged, no belayer in sight and he's onr move from the top. I wonder which way the route goes  ???
