Prince goes down
May 12, 2006, 02:57:06 pm
Nas goes down for 15 months. i still can't believe he was overtaking on the blind hill on Ringinlow Rd-  "stupid, suicide, ridiculous" as one of the witnesses says.

Good. I thought he'd pay his way out of it. Did you see the state of the car after the crash? The other guy was lucky to live, as it was I think he broke both legs and was in ITU for quite a while.

not exactly a featherweight now eh....who ate all the pies.
I heard from someone who lives across the road that he actually ran from the scene to his house and there was some suggestion of other charges(failing to stop at the scene or whatever) being dropped.

yeah i heard that as well - running from the scene. as if a personalised McMerc wasn't going to be identifiable...
i just remember seeing all the yellow paint on the road and thinking how on earth someone survived.

You'd think the "NAS 1" plate would be a bit of a giveaway. Unless he was banking on a famous queensbridge rapper nipping out to burbage that night.

Fair enough really - he was being an arse, but I'm also surprised he didn't buy his way out.

*Everyone* knows about the blind bumps on Ringinglow and how dodgy it is overtaking there, especially if you live just round the corner.

Hope the other poor bastard gets plenty of compensation.

Anyone who's boxed to his standard won't be doing anything they don't want to. I suspect people will leave him alone.

He'll be running tha joint in a week. D'yer see his gang of "over-enthusiatic" minders hammering the news cameras as his missus left court. What a palaver.

Shame really. In his day he was a fantastic boxer - dead exciting to watch, but he let his own hype go to his head.

If you're rich you can afford better counsel, but that's it. Even then they'd still have to come up with a credible argument that he didn't do it, which isn't going to be easy when the prosecution evidence includes one totalled £300k merc reg. NAS 1, one smashed up victim, lots of road evidence, other witnesses, and I think he eventually pleaded guilty, which is damning even for the richest. There's no "buying your way out".

I more meant buying your way out in a Michael Jackson stylee - ie, paying off the victim before things reach court, or paying the victim to state that it was their fault, etc.

But I guess in this case the authorities would have prosecuted anyway, since there were other witnesses.

A bit like when well know local Cannock celebrity Stan (Victor) Collymore turned up at a dogging spot in Cannock in his flash BMW with personalised plates SVC1. Apparently he was surprised that his dogging habit was rumbled.
