Steve McClure recently took a month off climbing to visit friends and go trecking in New Zealand. On returning to the UK, however it was only a few days before he left for the Gorge Du Tarn with Tim Glasby, Lucy Creamer, Nic Sellars, Katherine Schirrmacher and Ben Heason, with the object of trying to get fit again.

The first few days were spent getting into it, and then over the next five climbing days Steve managed to flash an 8b and onsight 9 8as and 8a+s, another 8b and an 8b/8b+. He also fell off a few routes "because I was still weak as piss!!"

Steve will be travelling out to Greenland later this year with a strong team including Ben Heason and Miles Gibson with some major big wall objectives.

I feel sick. He's a legend.

That does look like a strong team going out to Greenland.

I heard Steve was trying his extension to Rain Dogs recently - surely it'll go "when he gets strong"???
