on pistol whip are you allowed to use the good hold on the left at just above head height before reaching back right to the pocket and then getting the undercut?
still not tried it yet cos i aint been up with a spotter yet.

 Not sure which hold you mean. What is it like? We started with a poor pocket on the left, then a sloper and pocket out right, then an undercut pocket.

theres a littl horizontal groove that run across the left side of the face.the hold im on about is in the right hand end of this and reachable from the ground

I think you're refering to the wide slopey break on the left. We climbed too far right for this to be in reach, although the edge of it may have been used for a foot for the top move.

yeah its the hold about a foot left of the guys left knee at the same height.i thought you may reach that from ground then span right to the pocket(if reachable) then get undercut.
