a lifetime dream coming true.

the first song i learned is the wind cries mary, the first thing i did is put on my bass the special forces sticket that the clash guitarist had on its guitar.

i play the guitar, just like every other musical mofo out there! Self-taught, don't play anywhere near enough nowadays, plus thin fingertips from climbing and guitar strings don't mix...

These days I play 6 string steel acoustic and a Weissenbourn lap-steel guitar.. mainly country/blues/bluegrass fingerpick style and open tuning slide guitar on the lap-steel.

I played Bass (fretless) for ten years but rarely pick it up these days as I don't play in a band although I could if I needed to.

I'm reasonably handy in the studio and can programme analogue synths, samplers and navigate my way around DAE's like Logic 'n stuff like that but I'm spending more time grappling with my guitar these days and don't want get sidetracked with bleeps...

Everybody shake yo'self, the rebel's here and heeeeeee's street tuff! I think such ol skool klassix were a bit before sasscotty's time :).  Played the guitar til I got a pair of technix then I disappeared into da jungle for 5 or 6 years; found my way out via new skool breaks and a nasty case of permanent tinnitus. Now I pick up an acoustic guitar from time to time. Find the finger tip callouses I've built up mean the fingertips on my left hand never split when climbing.

"any tips?"
No, not if you practise hard enough... ;-)

I play/have played acoustic/classical/spanish guitar, bass, violin, piano, drums. Jack of all trades, master of none. Apart from classical guitar.

In honour of the newest addition to my stringed instrument collection I've changed my avatar to the Deering Deluxe banjo that I bought two weeks ago.  I've been grappling with it for the last couple of weeks and can now do a clunky but passable rendition of Cripple Creek and Old Time Religon...  Yeehaw! 8)

Mrs FD has made me take an oath that I'll never set foot out of the house with it - she's very embarrased.

Have some waddage for the banjo; I assume you have a porch, a rocking chair and a spitoon to go with it?!

You should bring it to the crag I reckon, and then play your best rednecks-in-strawhats-chasing-chickens-round-the-veranda whenever anyone displays bad footwork. ;D

Stubbs... I have a back porch and a crazed aggressive dawg so do I get more waddage?

JB... Martin suggested that too... it's really loud and would go down a treat booming out at Malham when someone sets off on a nerve wracking redpoint  ;D

I'll see if I can get some in on Westies video if he's not finished it yet...

Burt Reynolds' finest moment, except maybe canonball run and the superb boogie nights. Anyhow - I digress.
