OK heres the beef - I got a friend in prison who got aquired a copy of norton tinternet security 2006 which he'd activated AOK with a keygey type ting. That was however until today when it transpires that norton have recently sussed out the whole keygen thing and in the latest update (that everyone's copy of NIS downloads automatically) it's closed that loophole, so anyone like my friend in prison who had previously activated it has now found themselves in an unactivated NIS which won't now do its shit right.

So does anyone have the skinny on a new workaround/crack/keygen that will now work? Please speak up and i will pass this onto my friend in prison.

Had a quick look and it seems Norton have got wise to the activation cracks currently about. Might be a case of waiting a while.

Or not bothering - i doubt I'll use Norton stuff again. AVG is a better (and free) anti-virus solution and firewalls like Outpost are much nicer too.

He now uses AVG free with no problems at all, Sunbird Kerio firewall, Lavasoft Ad Aware SE Personal and Spybot S+D.

Mind, this friend has recently confessed to trying out a 'special' version of Ewido to great effect.

any ideas guys? my mate friend needs a boost cos he's half way through a sentence for something he didn't do and his wife just left him and moved to Milton Keynes.

i've noted on his behalf that zonelabs do a free zone alarm. any other knowledge?

my friend in prison tells me that zone alarm isnt as good as kerio and the like although it is easy to use.  He also tells me that he is now using a special version of sygate firewall pro which is bo.

he also warns me that if you try and get AVG pro cracked a similar thing to that of NIS occurs.

replace anti-virus with avg free and though I've not used Kerio, this firewall is excellent and gets reviewed well. Since your mate is a hardened crim he should know where to get it.

Norton is a resource hog and is well known as such.

Oh yeah, don't bother with Norton System Works either - that sucks too, use this instead

If you do tread the path of non-norton righteousness, be prepared for a bitch of a time just getting norton uninstalled. It's so hard to uninstall properly, norton even provide special programs to help you. Shocking.

my friend is back inside for breach of parole but sez he's going to try to fuck off NIS and get some other shizzle. He sez he's not bothered about uninstalling as he's just going to reformat.
He also asks do you have to register for AVG free?
