Music storage

I now have too much music for my laptop to store. What would be a better idea, to:
1. Burn it all to DVDs and make a copy of each DVD, or,
2. buy an external Hard Drive?

Depends how accessible you want the music to be doesn't it. I'd go for an external hard drive.

Is an external hard drive quicker though? I want the music to be able to be put on my mp3 player without too much hassle.
