right boys, in the summer i will be going to the village of Salvezines in the Pyrenees, near to the Aude river valley.
there is some rumor of sport climbing on the limestone around, but i wanna get the low down...im after short hard steep stuff, and for my brother: that chossy all day multi pitch stuff too.
good walking (GR trails) there?
anyone been to this village? is it nice? i have heard that it is quite back to basics.

Y'know, it's not that far to Targasonne from there (1h14 according to mappy.com)

But anyway...

This page gives a list of nearby crags.

This site gives a little map and some descriptions of crags - click on "Sites d'escalade" then "Pyrénées Orientales - Aude" to see this:

Champ du Mouréou is walking distance from the village and has 19 routes, single pitch but only up to 7a.

Pierre-Lys is also known as Quillan, and looks alright: http://www.worldtopo.com/rots.php?lndn=2&masn=978

Cardou is really close and has some multipitch stuff:http://membres.lycos.fr/assosrt/

And this woman lives somewhere down there and always seems to be looking for climbing partners (or babysitters):

PS: The lower-altitude limestone could be pretty hot in summer, but there's granite climbing higher up in the Massif de Canigou, south of Prades

My geography of the region is at best sketchy, but Graham Lynch is apparently working here.
