Moving to Sheffield
January 18, 2006, 12:49:55 pm
I am considering a move from Newcastle down to Sheffield and was wondering what areas are worth considering and which are best avoided. Obviously being well into climbing it would be nice to be close to the Peak (i.e. West of the city) but this isn't essential I guess. Once I know what areas are good (quiet and no chavs) and bad (noisy with chavs) I can start looking for a place to buy or rent.
Anyone live in the Staffordshire area have any suggestions along the same lines?

Also simes' recent post regarding a room to rent. Highfield is a pretty good place to be in the city.

Given your criteria, the following will be fine:

S1
Some of S6, S21, S36
S7, S8, S10, S11, S17
These would be fine but not really Sheffield city S18, S32, S33, lots of S40/41/42.

Avoid S2, S3, S4, S5, S9, some of S12.

Other areas are Eastside and a pain for the Peak District.
