Burbage guidebook sample
November 23, 2005, 01:28:49 pm
Christmas is coming and the geeses are getting fat,
So please go to http://www.thebmc.co.uk/guidebooks/  and download your free sample of the forthcoming Burbadger, Millstoner and Beyond.

Yes folks, this comically titled guide will be in your shops ready in time for your Christmas stockings. As a taster, there is a Millstone section for your perusal on the website. Note, it is about 5mg long, so it's best if you have broadband. Sorry Johnny.

Aided and abetted by UKB's very own Cofe, Johnny, Dave and Bonjoy - Thanks guys - you make lovin' fun.

Looks superb grimah. Glad to see the excellent style and functionality of the Staffordshire guide is being maintained. All hail the mighty BMC guidebook comeback!

P.S. On of the few re-gradings I noticed was Watling Street with the grade down and the stars up - entirely right I think.

Wow. Some of those pics are fantastic. And the guide looks sweeter than a jellybaby with a mouthfull of lucozade.

And yeah, will have the anecdotes etc in there too.

Superb stuff! Stunning photography and classic, clean design, with the now trademark historical/incidental asides. Well done that man.

Dawes on London Wall - a phenomenal image. Take a bow Johnny B and enjoy the applause, you deserve it.

Woah, I've just realised this is the one that covers...

Quote
Burbage, Higgar, Millstone. Lawrencefield, Rivelin, Bell Hagg, Wyming Brook, Bamford, Derwent Edge, Agden Rocher and Wharncliffe

Excellent, I presume this is what was once called The Sheffield Area guide? Looking forward to the coverage and updating of the less popular crags in particular.

I presume too at some point there will be combination of Froggat Curbar Baslow Gardoms Birchens Chatsworth, and then a southern grit guide for Cratcliffe, Black Rocks, Amber Valley and all the related esoterica? And of course a proper functional Stanage guide at some point?

we should resurrect the derwent gritstone guide. Do we have a volunteer to do the downhill racer rockover in bright white flared dungarees?

Or Keith Sharples casually cracking one off whilst hanging from a jam at the top of Mental Pygmy at Black Rocks.

word, are the current generation of bmc guides the first in about 30 years that don't have at least half a dozen pictures of keith sharples in? or has grimer sneaked a few in? hopefully we're talking PAs, adidas vests and jimmy hill beards.

...and not forgetting: tiny shorts, Galibier Contacts with socks, knotted sling quick draws and enormous Troll 6a chalk bags (a gallon capacity at least!).

fuck man. the sharples was the illest back then. matched only by bancroft in cricket sweaters and jeans, or pollitt in pink spandex tights and neckerchief. cosmic.

these young things these days have no idea.

word, that picture of my man Shizz-arp on Technical Master was the main reason I got psyched for bouldering.

what about the amazing amount of candystripe lycra in the Froggatt guide? That spandex / jumper combo is the shizzle word. They're all wearing it down here in Hoxton you know.
