Krafty Kuts & A-Skillz do Bond.

I got this on the Annie Mac Podcast but it's better with the clips. Good to see they snuck in the Propellerheads version of OHMSS and some scenes for Skyfall (from the trailer I presume). Good stuff!

Whats the general feeling within thr UKB gestalt about the upcoming Bond? I love the danny craig, reckon casino is up there as one of my favourites of all time, but quantum, not sure - seemed only to work if watched directly after watching casino, and it still felt a bit OTT maybe - probably just that casino is hard act to follow. I hope this new one is a banger, I don't want a repeat of Die Another Day, which was eagerly anticipated but fucking rubbish - well disappointing.

Bonds normally good value, and I'm a fan of Craigs more gritty encarnation of 007..

Loving the Aston in Glencoe shots that have come out in the trailers. I defer to MrsTT on the movie front as she's a die hard movie buff, and she's chomping at the bit over it (or DC's budgie smugglers.. :-/ )

The new 007 film sounds pretty awesome by all accounts. Most reviews I have read/heard say it is one of, if not, the best Bond films ever.

No pressure then!

Rich Simpson boxing! (Not very well....)

Thanks for the link Adam I enjoyed watching that. I'm not sure how qualified you are to critique Richs boxing though. Maybe we can set up a (climbing) celebrity death match between you two and see how things go :boxing:

I've only just noticed this. Blimey...

An illuminating report on the bout, written by Cambridge University Department of Sport, reads thus: 'With quiet confidence, Cambridge fans watched on as Rich Simpson took to the ring. Having over 60 bouts to his name, the Cambridge man was the sure favourite against the Oxford debutant. Although the Light Blue managed to knock his opponent down late in the first round, the gulf in experience was inapparent. As the final two rounds saw Simpson tire, he resorted to ‘dancing-on-ice’ style pirouettes to evade further punishment; meanwhile Oxford’s Light-Middleweight pushed forwards to clinch the bout by a majority decision and put the Dark Blues ahead for the first time.'
Link here, compare this paragraph with the wording of the other matches for some context on our olympic boxing hero:http://www.sport.cam.ac.uk/news/boxing---varsity-match-2011.html

That video (and match report) is a bit embarrassing for a guy who told me to my face, the day I climbed with him in 2010, that he would (not might) have made the British olympic boxing team for London 2012 had it not been for 'an undisclosed operation', and who told a well-known photographer about the (large) sums of money he was earning as a boxer. We dry-tooled that day, he couldn't do that very well either. This was at the time of his training to become a super-alpinist. What a fantasist.

Huffy - I don't know if Adam L is qualified or not to comment on Rich's boxing, but I am to some small degree. Rich's boxing in that video is about the same standard as that of the novice boxers I watched in inter-regimental bouts and sometimes sparred with when I very briefly did it whilst I was in the army. I was pretty rubbish. He's obviously got a hard punch but he's mostly just throwing uncontrolled haymakers for the first two rounds of that bout and it's plain to see that he blows himself out before the last round. The last round is just embarrassing for a supposed potential olympic boxer - continually turning around like he does (and I know it's hard to avoid doing so when you're completely knackered). Nothing too bad really, unless you're claiming to be a well experienced olympic-standard boxer. It's obvious he's just a amateur who's done a little bit of boxing here and there, I can't see how Rich was ever close to the level he claimed he was at (and very likely the same for marathons/mile'ing/alpinism etc etc etc). As for the '60 bouts undefeated' (or even 60 bouts!) - it doesn't show does it. A typical bullshitting tactic in that he has enough ability to talk the talk but then greatly exaggerated it into something else. The only thing in his favour is it takes a lot of guts to enter the ring, he's not lacking guts.

Sorry to rake up the embers but that boxing vid has just confirmed to me that I was right to dismiss RS as a fantasist two years ago and it reassures me that I'm making a sensible decision in not crediting him with Liquid Ambar's 2nd ascent in the history section of the forthcoming NW Limestone guide. Hopefully one day he'll reappear on the scene and prove me wrong but, until then, to me he'll always be Rich Simpson, light-middleweight in a world of bullshitting fantasists.
