You certainly won't find any unclimbed V7's in the Peaks, unless they're poxy eliminates.

Sorry but you're wrong.
The Peak is a lot more 'climbed out' than Yorkshire, but there are still unclimbed lines out there - both routes and boulder problems (and at quite amenable grades as well as the collection of 'last greats') you just need to know where to look...

Nik thats the whole point about Yorkshire, you dont need to know where to look, it's every where.

I think its fair to say Yorkshire does have more and better bouldering than the peaks.

I think it's pretty obvious to anyone who isn't biased that Yorkshire bouldering is better than the Peaks.  Not only that but Peaks grades are ridiculously soft - like North Wales - who are you trying to kid?

Yorkshire has a lot more bouldering than the peak - no argument.
Yorkshire has a lot more unclimbed rock than the peak - no argument
Yorkshire has rock absolutely bloody everywhere - no argument
Yorkshire has better bouldering than the peak - dunno both the peak and yorkshire have good (and bad) problems. I haven't done enough climbing in Yorkshire to make any definitive statements about the relative proportion of good and bad problems in the two areas. I would guess the areas would come out as similar/the same relatively, however I would agree that in absolute terms Yorkshire (simply due to the larger overall number of problems) has more good problems.

Soft or hard grading is irrelevant to the quality of the problems. A good problem is a good problem whatever grade it is given in a guidebook. If you can't see that you must be a pretty sad tick-monkey :)

Nik, at last you admit that Yorkshire is better than the peaks, so why dont you boulder in Yorkshire more.

All these yorkshire boys seem quite insecure about the quality of their bouldering, thus keep needing to spray about how its better than the peak.

But please prove me wrong by stopping going on about it all the time, cos its like a broken record, and not a very good record at that.

Its just happens to be one of the only decent photos of me I've got. The fact that I am nonchalantly dispatching some chipped B7 or other is of no consequence.

Andy Crome lived in Sheffield for 8 years, but has lived in Leeds for the last 3. He divides his time between the relative merits of Peak and Yorkshire Grit, and can truely say he enjoys them both.
He just got back from Castle Hill, and he reckoned the bouldering there was unique - He's going back someday!
He's off to the Peak tomorrow to bag more fine unclimbed lines, but don't worry, he's on Yorkshire Grit on Friday.

Thankyou Norton - and that from a die hard Yorkshireman too!

Although a good bit of trolling is a right laff now and again, it can all get a bit Cocktalk, and we don't want another one of them.

Just thank god we have all this on our doorstep (more or less).

Went to Wilton 1 yesterday afternoon. Some really nice routes and then a couple of boulder problem starts and then a couple of beers. Nice!

Yeah, we're lucky - within a few hours drive we've got a huge amount and variety of bouldering to go at - all you've got to do is get up early and you've got Dartmoor/Northumberland/Lakes/Wales/Yorkshire/Peak/etc etc.
