So I want to move a website from a shitty advert ridden free host. I want something reasonably cheap, preferably with a free domain name, and a decent transfer rate and domain size.

Any recommendations or advice on who to go to or how to do it?

Head on over to dreamhost, pretty damn cheap and plenty of storage/bandwidth.  If you have a google for them you should be able to find some promo codes that'll get you really cheap hosting.....  Free domain rego too.
