Limiting factor might be snow! Si Berry and Coatsey went out few years ago over xmas and couldnt get up to the crag. Essentially you go up on to a plateau and then drop into the valley itself and you often couldnt make it up to the top of the road! temps might be a little different now what with warming etc but it can be frigging cold there! Also camping is fucking grim there, unless your an alpine gnarler id get accom in a house. Having said that the conditions were best late Nov when the sun was out! You pays your money....
Thought about going further south?

yeah, maybe. do you have any other reccomendations for short(ish ) route areas. I've decided to embrace my lack of stamina, cos i sertainly won't be getting any on a fingerboard in bedford!

Went there over x-mas a few years ago. Was fantastic - cold enough to stick to holds but ok to climb even when the sun wasn't out.
To sleep there is a nice gîte at Lourmarin which is just 15 min down the road. But get a reservation if you want to stay til new year.

Check out this:

The 2nd link are all the gite d'etappe around Boux. There is one at Boux as well, which is really close to the area but it was full when I was down there.  So we went to the first link!
