Not sure if this belongs in photography or computers but here goes anyhows...
MMC with lots of lovely photos on decides to f*** up on top of mountain (was in a nokia phone!)
It now reckons I need to format it, but this will lose all data. Data now appears to be raw rather than FAT - anyway of recovering it???

No idea about such things but can't you just recover the .raw using photoshop?

yeah, recent versions of photoshop can use .raw - not sure what other software can though, I've only just started using raw on my camera.

There are quite a few programs that will recover images from corrupt data cards. Most are pretty easy to use. Some are free. Have a look on www.download.com or www.tucows.com

http://www.tucows.com/preview/336994

is one I found after a quick look. Even if you pay for it, it will be worthwhile cos flash cards of all types corrupt from time to time. We successfully recovered several hundred photos from a corrupt card. Can't remember what we used in the end, PM 'Control Freak' he might remember.

Cheers Fella's - I'm on it as I type. They were pretty important photo's too, my only evidence of 'topping out' on Kibo.

How did you get on? http://www.pcinspector.de/download.asp?language=1#smart_recovery is the one I was trying to remember last night. It is free. Should work with Flash cards.

Managed to get all 50 shots recovered - used a simple (but slow) piece of freeware from http://www.snapfiles.com/get/zaimagerecovery.html : zero assumption.
Unfortunately it will only recover stills, not videos - so if anyone knows how I can recover two .3gp (nokia video) files for free, let me know!
Cheers for the help B & O!
