pea crab shuffle
August 15, 2005, 10:41:09 am
Does anyone know where the official finish to this problem is? i was trying to get all the way to the right arete but the last move gets really akward as the lip is only about 1ft off the ground.  It seemed more logical to rock onto the slab a bit further left (1m). ace problem though.
anyone done it who can give me some tips?

thanks,
dan

On the first ascent Iain did it to the rockover you mention.
I don't have any useful tips, sorry. But I can tell you that a Pea Crab is a crab, roughly the size of a pea, which lives a parasitic existence inside the shell of a mussel

Come now, these things aren't always implicit. A House Martin being considerably smaller than your average semi.

True, and giant spider crabs are considerably bigger than any spider, in spite of their name

This is possibly the freakiest beast I have ever seen, the ones in the aquarium in Cape Town stand about 4 foot tall, and are not the biggest ever seen.

Also hermit crabs are not all members of the 60s band Herman's Hermits, although i believe one played the pea whistle for them on one single, after they found a pea crab was not up to the task.

Trav's the lip of the block with Jetpack on it.
The cratcliffe cave was mostly inhabited by Herman and the Hermits during the late 60s.

Throw really hard and spin anticlockwise. There is also a boreing static way to do it using a crimp out left

i pasted me feet on the ramp on the left on jetpack, one low and one quite high, then you'r facing sideways and can get a good swing into the back and then launch out. its a funny movement, did it twice like that couple o years ago, then this summer couldn't do it and was getting closer using some other more regular way. its basically a wierd knack type thing.

Jetpack would be a much better problem if the ground was a bit lower

maybe the BMC can get the ground dug out a bit, and use that soil the rebuild the deliverance landing.

i once met roy castle when i was about 8 or 9 years old.

Roy was on the ball with dedication, but if you had to choose a former record breakers presenter to get you psyched at the crag, fighting through the crux of a problem, it'd have to be kriss akabusi.

He's the most psyched individual on the face of the planet.
