Hardest single move in the world
June 28, 2005, 03:54:27 pm
So what is it then?

Is it on one of Gaskins' problems?

In fact, are there any other short V15s in the world?

If someone wanted to prove their wadliness, or waddaging, or wadever, what would be the top 5 über-moves to crank out and crank on and crank any which way but loose?

If you mean whats the hardest move to have been done (even if the problems not been done) you have to think of the moves on the trowbarrow project (V16 and I am pretty sure Gaskins has done the moves), how about matching and using the sloper on Walk Away sit start!

I don't think there is a hardest move in the world as everyone finds differant things hard (although Hueco Crack is the hardest problem in the world!!!   )  but I reckon if you can do any of the above (including Hueco Crack) you are very waddage indeed.

i find i have more trouble with crescent arete than doing a "hard", for me, move. anything with pinches or slopers on, for me, is hard

I ended up at Woodwell yesterday on my way back north and had the opportunity to study Kaizen at close quarters. No human bean can pull on those holds at that angle. And if Walk Away SS is harder...well, fuck my dog

No. By the time Woodwell had finished with me I could hardly drive I was so old. However, today I dusted off my big dumb bells and went mental for...oh, all of 15 minutes, so despite an evening of dull thuds and eating dust the trip did at least have the desired motivational effect. Now all I've got to do is remember how strong I was two years ago and get there again. Jacky Godoffe Font 8a at 50 here we come. Thud
Back for more humiliation 'over the road' on Saturday, insh'allah

Wasn't the crux of Gaskins' "il pirata" mooted as a contender for hardest single move?  In the words of the man/mutant himself:

Name - "Il Pirata".
Grade!!?? Undecided but I think that it is maybe V15.
Most of the climbing (i.e. the last 9 moves) is pretty reasonable. In total it's 13 moves to get stood up on the slab, the first 2 moves are quite hard/powerful but the third move!!?? My success rate on it is under 1%!! The fourth move is tricky but 'easier'.

Thinking of having a summer road trip around the Lakes (and maybe North Wales).  Think i'll call in at Woodwell and Trowbarrow purely as an act of Godskins worship, anyone know what kind of burnt offerings / sacrifices he prefers?

Thar's a good point, gaskins is obviously, almost as strong as god, but he concentrates all his efforts on, lines which are somewhat less than inspiring to look at (for me anyway) have you ever had a look at screaming slave at woodwell. No footlocks allowed in the jug and the roof, even though about six inches seperates them.

A few times - Trowbarrow has some decent mid-grade trad, plus the bouldering on the red wall has about a thousand times the rock area of woodwell. That anaesthesia thing is incredible, i mean genuinely UN-BE-LEIVABLE!!!! How anyone could see that piece of rock and think of climbing is beyond me. It's like seeing a park bench, and instead of sitting down for a rest, burrowing underneath and doing front levers. Bizarre.

clearly neither of yuo have had the pleasure of a visit to the stirrup stones.

woodwell is a good crag - ok its a bit local but it makes the best use of the rock there and i like it, even if its a bit lowball. no-ones saying its bas cuvier.
