WEATHER FORCASTS
June 09, 2005, 09:22:42 am
theres a new service on metcheck which appears to give a weather forcast for individual crags.i havent had time to check how comprehensive it but it seems to be pretty good.you go in to hobbies then climbing and pick your crag.

Had a look, not much good for any crags around here. I wonder where they got the list from? I preferred the old version actually, a lot easier to navigate.

Seems a little over the top, I'd like to see them predict different forcasts for Stanage Popular End and the Plantation, or Lawrencefield 'v' Millstone.
Never been overly impressed with Metcheck I tend to stick with http://www.metoffice.com/  although I am pleased to see they have included that classic lakes venue with it's 'proper name', "Wanker's Quarry"  :D

Found quite a good site here  for current data http://www.weatherstations.co.uk/aws_map.htm if your thinking of heading somewhere. Buxton one is quite detailed.

always rated metcheck but admit the new site is a little OTT. they tend to be the most accurate. the bbc one certainly isn't based on any kind of science i know of.

Check out www.weathernews.com , my little bro just started a job with their London office. :8)

If it loads correctly (can be a bit iffy, should be a big scrolling Flash world map) have a play with the front page. The speeded up webcams are well clever, seems to work better with Firefox than IE. The world clouds are well cool when they work.

Not good for local forecasts but a clever website if you like dat sort of ting
