New 7c / 8a Traverse at Cratcliffe???
April 25, 2005, 02:23:08 pm
Just wondering if anyone has done a traverse I did a while ago. Its on the boulder above t-crack where a b8 traverse is listed in the rockfax guide (not tit traverse). Instead of using the big juggy rail you stay low off the left ramp and use about five tiny crimps to evntually slap the right hand end and finish as per the b8. I think its about 7c/8a but really dont know as I haven't met anyone else that has done it! [Crux involves a heel on one of the crimps and funky toe hook to drop down onto final crimp b4 big slap out right].

nah not jerry's. Its on same boulder as No.31 on page 157 of Rockfax Peak Guide. Would really appreciate someone good having a look at and giving it a grade.

I know the boulder you mean - if you're at T-crack, walk left to the next boulders - there's a slabby wall with some easy problems on it using big pockets. The boulder is almost directly above that wall.

Those crimps have been brushed for years so I've always just assumed it's some sort of hard variation on the normal traverse.

No idea sorry. What does the new guide say? I've not got it with me now. Ru will probably have an idea if anyone does.

Haven't done it but played on it, and I'd be suprised if it was harder than 7b+

I know the one, it was done years ago. Big Al (Williams) told me what grade it is but my head is too full of fluffy bunnies to remember.

Dirty hard crimpy stuff if I remember rightly....

Ah good someone else spent a load of skin on that 'dirty' problem. Be good to hear what grade this Big Al (?) thinks it is. I know its harder than 7b+ (looks easier than it is - esp. last move!)
