Cratcliffe Area Circuit
April 29, 2005, 12:27:57 am
On the weekend, a few of us are going to Cratcliffe (and nearby venues) for the first time.

My Friday challenge to the Guru's of Peak bouldering, is to come up with a circuit of problems, similar to Mr Panton's Stone Circle articles.  Failing that a recommendation of things to do would be nice.  Looking at problems between V3 to V8.

Cheers!

Stick to Cratcliffe top and Robin Hood's stride on your first visit - one of the best circuits in the peak.

You've got two mega classics at the top of your grade range that you'll need to try - T-Crack and Jerry's arete. Unfortunately they're at either end of the circuit so if you want to try both when going well you'll need to structure the day a bit rather than just following your nose. Both will be very hard in the 70 degrees forecast though....

Would warm up on the cratcliffe top boulders, then do the up probs thru Jerry's trav, a quick go on T-crack then work your way along the little edge in the wood towards the stride. Don't miss the little crimpy cave at the far end. Then head round to the right of the stride and do the probs on the frog boulder, the big square block furthest west. Big Al Quaeda is another V8 ish  classic here. Then over the wall and the probs round Jerry's arete. Try and save some beans for this!

Alternatively, if its boiling, try the circuit below cratcliffe crag which should be shady. Mega big arete not too be missed...
