That's very nice for you ;)

Joking aside, it all depends on the location really and how my skin/motivation is lasting.  There is no way I could crank at full volume for 5 hours but could happily bumble away a circuit in said time.

How longs one of those string thingy's?

How do you know?  Are you sat in my office?

At the wall, probably ~3 hours which is too long really and I'm trying to have shorter sessions with more rests.  Outside..  depends where you are  and what you're doing, pulling hard (for me) on grit there's no way my skin nor muscles could last 5 hours and my sessions probably last 2-3 hours.

Going to a new place and climbing a lot of easier problems or doing a new circuit probably 4 hours.  Some places it takes quite a while just to walk between the different problems, so you can be there for several hours and only climb for a fraction of that time.

Also depends on when I'm planning on climbing next.  I'd rather stop before I'm completely trashed so I can climb again the day after or day after that.  I don't like having wrecked skin because I end up not being able to climb well for a few days.

So to summerise, how long's one of those strings...

indoor - generally 2 hours means not being too busted or fucked the next day, can do several days on the trot of 2 hour cellar sessions no problem.

outdoor - as long as still feeling strong, and generally a bit more too. as long as it takes.

Yeah, I often have wall sessions like that.

I normally make my sessions expand to the available time. If I have all day I will potter about, slack off a bit, shoot the shit and take some pics. If I have an hour, i will cram as much as I can in.

indoors - weekday nights ~ 2hrs, weekend sessions ~3 hrs.

outdoors - all day, usually 11 am to 6 pm'ish - if only to make the 3-4 hour round trip worthwhile.  Though it takes me ages to warm up so I often only start being able to crimp hard late in the day (by which time my skin's frigged, c'est la vie).  Though, my outdoor sessions do admittedly involve lengthy periods of mooching, coffee drinking and maltloaf eating.

Was 4 hours last year, but that included a 45min warm up and a 20min warm down. Outdoors probably not quite so long at full tilt, due to general wear and tear and loss of energy through not knowing all the holds off by heart.

suddenly it all becomes clear why my elbows and fingers have fallen apart... indoors 2.5hours to 4/5 (!) generally leave feeling trashed. outdoors, well from when i actually bother to get out until it gets too dark, midgey, wet...
think once all my joints have healed I'm gonna try and limit myself to 2 hours indoors (not including the warm up/stretch)
how long do people generally spend warming up/ stretching?

About 45 seconds, but I think I should change my routine before I regret it.

depends dunnit, as they say in font - 'ow eet feels maan', some days I do a few problems and feel ok, at the tor I have a circuit which is like a guage for how I'm feeling. At the board I have a circuit which I follow, climbing on the minute until its complete - this takes about 20-30 mins.

I don't really warm down, except perhaps to do a couple of easier problems to finish.
