Kudos all bone dry as well as the warm up area. Apparently there had been a massive drainage streak running down the Press an hour before I arrived at 7pm but it had completely gone - good conditions tonight. Caviar dry too.

If anyone finds a small Black Diamond headtorch anywhere between the warmup area and the road, its mine - it may have dropped out of my pad on the way out. Cheers.

Salar

Hot fun is much better, Salar is a one move wonder that easier for the tall.

caviar (and beluga) are both probably the best climbing Rubbercon has to offer. Theres something a bit different about those routes. I hope to get back on Beluga soon - poss next week.

Nik - do the sissy. Its one of my favourites at that crag.

Will add it to the list Dobbers, a recommendation from such a font of taste and discernment as yourself is justification enough (and it looks like the hard bit is pretty short-lived).

Planning on heading to Rubicon tonight with a view to getting on Caviar. Am I in for a disappointment? (thinking more in reference to the condition of the route rather than opinions on the quality of the route or my climbing ability)

nik now caviar is dry it'll probably only get wet again come autumn unless there's some seriously biblical rain. the main thing to watch out for is when the river floods the base when it rains hard, otherwise its a safe bet now.

Excellent, cheers for the update chaps, I was just a bit concerned as Macclesfield is currently shrouded in drizzly-mizzly mist.
If you fancy giving it a whirl and you're free this evening Dave...

What sort of time will you be there beast?

I was thinking of a tor side short bouldering session from approx 4pm - 1830... But, I could be tempted into doing Beluga/Caviar/Tribes if a certain bespectacled lancastrian was headed that way....

LANCASTRIAN!!!!! Let me assure you that Tod is at least 50 yards inside the Yorkshire border, and I was born in Huddersfield (although I will concede I am a speccy twat).

Sadly I'm looking at more of an evening venture, getting there at 7-ish and staying until dark (or tired), but if you can make it I'd love to witness the pure talent of the wonder mule again after that stirling Earl display ;)

Failing that I'll be Tor-wards tomorrow evening (again from 7-ish) for a spot of bouldering or maybe routes if that is of any interest...

"When font 6b is no longer easy, and 6a is approaching desperate..."

We were on it that day.

"And you say he has climbed harder? well, I saw him at Earl and he was shit...." etc etc. In fairness it was 1000 degrees AND raining. Rain drops of pure acid.

Sadly, by 7 I will either home, or chasing back to prepare a sumptuous feast for the fi(n)ance.

Planning on heading to Rubicon tonight with a view to getting on Caviar.

You might need some vertical wall/slab climbing skills for bottom of this Nik. Oh, wait a minute...
