Bouldering Day Trips South East England
March 10, 2005, 11:22:52 am
I'm a new to the sport and have only been climbing for 6 Months (mainly indoors).

I'm looking for somewhere in the South East of england where I can boulder out doors. Does anybody know of any where?

Souther Sandstone, centred around Tunbridge Wells is your best (and only) bet. Ian h will probably be along to advocate it's merits. If you have never been outdoors before, you will probably like it

hello

your best bet if you are just starting out on sandstone is to get a copy of the jingo wobbly guide , which details some bouldering at bowles , high rocks and harrisons.

the guide also has maps and other info on the area

there is plenty more stuff which is not documented , but this does tend to be the harder stuff

if you need any more info let me know

Thanks I've been to Harrison's top roping but only found a single boulder in my guide book. Are any of the other Sand Stones locations any better?

harrisons is a mint spot, just remember, "jumping down is the new topping out"... then oppertunities are endless. (not all bouldering takes place on a free-standing boulder). there are loads of short solos too.

at bowles there is the fandango wall that has a load o eliminates. pay to climb shit going on but is worth it.

other easy boulder problems are zmutt and brenva on the matterhorn at high rocks, easy probs on the bowling green boulders , and also in the alcove behind degenerate. all at high rocks

parisian affair , too short to mention,  other  sandy stuff at the bottom end at eridge

at harrisons apart from north boulder , nut tree ,  slab bay,  the scoop, pullover

all of stone farm is at a high but boulderie hight

all high rocks annexe can be done with pads

all the eliminate stuff at bowles
