so you've got on to the arete, left hand up to sidepull. now, I do a heelhook with my right foot just below my hand before slapping up the arete with my right hand to the better bit of the arete... works fine from the stand up, but from sitting fell off trying to get my heel up about 15 times over the weekend. Am I a) weak as piss b) mightily stupid to be trying this in july, or c) doing it wrong ? There is also the possibility of d) all of the above, but really I'm interested in answers in the c) area.

funnily enough, that's where I fell off too. I'd say you're doin it right, just wait for a colder day.

Now I'll say this quietly, and don't all rush at once, but this is perhaps the only problem (at least the only one I've found) in Ru's new guide that is wildy overgraded. Get in quick before Ru's inevitable 2nd edition downgrading backlash sends it miles the other way...

Didn't feel that overgraded - though I didn't do it, and it was fairly warm. The 7b thing (no 5) to the left though is certainly an ego massager, felt easier than the mantle straight up at 7a.

Aye, I suppose (sigh)

Tetris is the 7c (for now) at fourth cloud - nice pic of the boulder in Ru's guide p284

Had another thought - whats the deal with access to the clouds - there's a sign on the path about a 'quiet area for wildlife' - anyone have knowledge?

oh shit, it really is a good job i'm with R-man all the time then. My mum was obviously right "Quarries are lonely places, you don't know what starnge people you might find."
Bollocks.

got it this weekend - sequence worked fine, just needed a bit more skin. Sadly, agree with JB - never 7c if I can manage in August. 7b would be harsh though, reckon it felt comparable with Ram Air which I did on a similarly warm day this year...
