The left arete of Northern Soul at Hepburn. Very fontesque and hard. Looks like it has been tried a bit.
...and very hard looking. Compression between non-existent rounded holds. Great line and landing though.

The Hawkstone, didn't Perrin get chatting to some landowner / conservation group and it's banned for some reason??

The whole thing was follied up by some eccentric lord back in the day, its now open as a tourist attraction, of which the main appeal is the crags, caves, grottos, arches etc, most of which have been added. At some point not that long ago they were advertising for a hermit.

That shouldn’t be too hard, I believe they're affiliated with the Hermits Official Management Society

And once you get a certificate from the Plantation Official Ombudsmans Facilitation Society the application would be sure to be approved.

Give it a while , I expect only a few cm may be visible above the snow right now!

I understand that's only applicable for paid-up members of British Union of Male Mountaineering Ethical Rock Specialists.

That's true Jasper and I believe there's also a branch of the Official Ombudsmans Facilitation, Training, Education & Referals Society set up for Wimberry which might be more convienient for any prospective hermit based in the Manchester area.

Indeed and all that would then be needed would be accreditation from the Forestry Association Good Governance Of Trees Scheme to achieve hermit status.

I don't think that would be a problem for a fully paid up member of the British Union of Male Mountaineering Ethical Rock Specialists.

For this one would almost certainly have to apply to the Royal Institute of Management of Forestry In Sensitive Terrestrial Environments and Regions.

I've heard that the rock and potential are excellent in places. However, like the crags at nearish-by Beeston Castle it is well and truly banned!
