You, my friend, seem to have fallen foul of the myth that bouldering is an inexpensive sport:

All you need are a pair of shoes. Some chalk maybe. A mat if you're feeling extravagant.

Not so! You also need a car!

If I'm around I'll give you a lift, though it's quite probable that I won't be, so you might be best trying to find alternative transport.

Crag Craig David (I hate that fuckin name) is banned

Sorry that was the best we all came up with.  Since Anston Stones doesn't exist, it's the local crag to my parents.  If you lot were all wearing wooly jumpers and wax jackets and had watched an episode of John Craven's Country File, then you and the farmer would've got on famously.  But he probably turned up to see a large group of topless blokes filming each other screaming.  "Climbers you say? Hmmm"

"brownstones may witness a jonny brown and even...a dense loner"

well, you may have to endure one out of two. spoke to johnny about this n all he could do was skirt around the issue, with incessant mumblings. basically from the jist of it it sounded like he was saying he wasn't coming, even for one of his oldest friends. i was so shocked at this i had to go round to cofes n entertain his good lady while a guidebook meeting was going on in the other room. there seemed to be more incessant mumblings from both these locations
have to say i'm really surprised that johnny can't be arsed :bash:

Have only given it a brief go due to finger injury. So far share little crip, big rock right into gaston. The next move will be the killer, a big throw with LH for a good pocket over the top (visible in shot 1).

http://ukbouldering.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10110/black2web.jpg Black Rocks area?? The style of grit, the ground vegetation, and the outlook all point to that sort of area too =).

Looks cool. Like the camo colour outfit shown to great effectiveness in pic 1.

Whilst i'm at it here's a few of the BIG roof at the mighty Craig David, no problems yet cross the roof although I did a 7b that went to a halfway jug shortly before the landowner showed up and shut the game down.

Oh my giddy aunt! That looks absolutely awesome. Is it low enough to boulder all the way to the lip, or does it start getting a bit hairy? (looks about the height of that roof problem bock does on the udini site)

And more to the point, is there any chance that climbing will be allowed in the near future?

It's magnesium limestone or seems like it to me. Height wise the bit pictured is as big as it gets and topping out in the middle would be somewhat route like. Further right are two more bay/caves of more conventional bouldering scale, and a vertical section with a few highballs, left of the big roof is a low roof with slopers. Some bits are disappointingly short of holds, but I reckon there are enough holds for maybe 30/35 probs, we already did about 10.

Sorry to be a geo-pedant, but it's actually Magnesian Limestone.
