Sharkathon 2023
December 26, 2022, 12:15:24 pm
Feeling bloated and unfit? You’re not alone.

Worry not as redemption is just around the corner. Get ready to kick start the New Year by joining in with Sharkathon  :boxing:

The only rule is 30 mins of any type of exercise for every day of January but feel free to add other aims for the month - going dry, weight loss..

Are you in?

In, of course.
Main challenge for me is motivation on 12hr work days, hopefully some 5k runs and fingerboarding will be time efficient enough. Weight is fine atm, just maintenance. Going to enjoy doing no planks...

I'm aiming high and rebelliously - aiming for 30mins physical FUN (and/or ENJOYMENT or SATISFACTION) per day. Completely contrary to the spirit of Sharkathon I know :icon_321:

Still not looked into venal surgery not liposuction so the hallowed depths of 11:13 stone ain't happening tho.

Are we going to have a standard unit of mass this year?
Kilo, pound, stone, car, bag of sugar?

I'm in, I'm flying to the Alps 1 Feb. so will go dry for the month (might have a wake for a friend :(, but that doesn't count). And cut right back on sweets and chocs (none would be unrealistic). Get a solid block of running in and try get 100km done.

Happy birthday Duncan.

Yesterday tipped the scales at 167.2lbs or 75.8 bags of sugar or 0.08% of a Lotus Elise.

Enjoyed many bottles of wine and outstanding meals over the last few weeks but now syked to get back in shape.

Not eaten today yet. Max hangs session when I get back home later.

Edit: that should be 169.2lbs

Hope you’ve not been doing any accounting over the festive period 😂

No scales to hand, but let’s just assume there is a considerable amount of weight that needs to go.

Day 1 - Some “easy” climbing at Can Torxa. Managed to pull off a chossy flake in the classic 6a corner and nearly hit the ground. Had another go and got to the top, albeit with some rests. Mentally and physically battered. Will go for a walk tomorrow!

Day 1

215lb (better than expected).

3 hour family walk around various West Sheffield woods. Nice to see plenty of jays out.

I've had near constant colds since second week in November. I would like it to stop now.

Scales at 14st 8 this morning heaviest ever. Due to events over Xmas period, I've not felt I want to run since the 20th and barely done any walking, been eating and drinking. Last drink was at 12:30 last night, will be dry now until Feb (except exceptional circumstance).

(31st) Bouldered at the wall. Didn't feel up to it, but mate was up visiting from England so met up, actually had an ok session and a good catch up.
1st - Afternoon 2 hr / 7.5km walk up snowy Cairn Mon Earn. Fortunately forecast was spot on, and we had an inversion and great sunset. 5km run at home. Some kettlebells in front of TV.

Good luck 'thonners. and Happy Birthday.

Day 1: sleep deprived but surprisingly not hungover, just generally neglected my body over the last month or so with lots of stress and booze and not as much self care and vegetables as I should resulting in me lurching from one lurgy to the next.

Heavy - will weigh in the morning.

4.8 mile walk with the family which would have been a pootle but carrying a 14 kilo child for approximately half of it made it feel like a good workout.

Day 2:

68.4 kilos - roughly 4 kilos over what is easily normal for me (outside of pregnancy) and 6 kilos over where I would like to be. There's definitely a paunch!

3 hours family mountain biking which involved running up and down hills repeatedly whilst pushing/holding on to small person as well as riding myself and a good fall whilst I was coming down a steep bit - shoulder felt pretty sore after but hopefully it will be ok by the morning.

Between night shifts, slept all day, felt like crap, and failed at the first hurdle. Managed a bit of planking, dishes, press ups and pull ups but nothing like enough to count .

2
1 hr bouldering plus cycling to and from.

Day 2

2.5 hours surfskating the bowl at The House with the lad. Coughing my lungs up at the end of every run. Only us in the bowl - scooter kids occasionally appeared at the edge, but didn't get in. Ace.

Looked at the weather forecast and learned that rain will resume tomorrow, so headed out to Tesco park and ride car park in the evening for some flat land fun on the surfskates. The lad and I did 40 minutes worth of laps with some big low carves thrown in when my legs allowed. Now feel that I have overdone it.
