Sash Window Refurb / Replacement
November 08, 2022, 08:00:19 pm
Excuse the slightly obscure topic but I've sure the UKB hive mind will have some answers on this.

We live in a Victorian house in Sheffield (doesn't everyone?) with a number of single glazed wooden sliding sash windows. They're clearly not the best in terms of heat retention and could do with some modernisation.

Anyone gone through anything similar in terms of refurbishment / replacement? Has anyone got any recommendations for local tradesmen who could take a look at this type of thing? A quick google suggests there are loads in the area, be good to get some first hand feed back.

Budget wise it would be great if I didn't have to sell a kidney to fund it.

Thanks y'all.

Not sure if it's quite what you're after but Dom Lee (the climber) is also a carpenter. We had him in to do some internal window frames at lattice and he did a nice job so I suspect he'd be at home refurbishing sash windows. Not sure what he charged. I think I've got his number somewhere, drop me a DM and I'll dig it out for you.
