Pembroke DWS - can't identify routes
October 21, 2022, 04:48:55 pm
Would anyone be able to identify the routes in these two videos? I think the first may include some shots of when Howard Lawledge repeated Underworld at Hollow Caves Bay

The first part is Hollow Caves Bay with some of the routes near Underworld, the second part is at the Little Orme

Routes at Skrinkle Haven and Penally

In the first video, the first four routes are all on the west face of Breakfast Zawn:
0.00 Have Your Oats (6b),
0.15 Instant Black or Black Mass (7b)
0.40 Cereal Killer (7a+)
1.15 Strangelands (7c)

Not sure about the next two from 2.28, a wild guess makes the first one with multiple tries Submariner (7b+)? No idea about the Ormes routes or those in the second video, other than brief reappearances of some of the Hollow Caves Bay routes at the start.

The traverse line at HCB is called Bratz who Trav. I think there are some attempts at Hydrotherapy in there and possibly a newer line next to it.

The end of the second video is The Wizard I think.

Skipped through a bit, too many routes to identify!

Most of the middle of the second one is the wall where Occam's razor, Olympiad etc are, and at the end maybe the wizard though I'm not entirely sure about that as the rock looks a bit different but the layout and the height look right.

The line at the end of vid 2 is definitely the wizard. I remember chatting to Nic (guy with the kneepad) about it.

It's definitely the Wizard and also Occam's wall. I think there's a Rob Clifton first ascent on there, worth looking up

Had a closer watch of the first vid and Im pretty sure the attempts on the line at ~2.30 are hydrotherapy, a gresham 8a+ (I'd be surprised if it's the stuff either side given that Bob seems to be trying pretty hard and he's no punter).

The line from ~5.30 looks a lot like Den Acid Taktstock Schwingen https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crags/hollow_caves_bay-435/den_acid_taktstock_schwingen-497902
