Groan

No, not the strange, sideways grit VS, but the rather tasty looking low-grade limestone bouldering mecca...

Yeah I reckon its dry I was talking to Nick Clement the other day and he had been up there and said Aeons and Walk Away were dry and if Aeons is dry everything else should be.

Quite a mixed bag really its basically combination of the old micro routes which range from Diff to E1 (V0 to V3) and the newer boulder problems such as The Trick, Sauron, Aeon, Walk Away etc. (V3 to V15!) which were in the main done by John Gaskins. I would say the only problem with Fairy Steps is the sporadic nature of the harder problems ie. There can be a  bit of a walk between the harder problems so its a good place to go if you want to seige any of the harder problems which are on very good rock.
Tick list...
Start off at the Taliesin Area as there are a number of good V0 to V4`s and a V7 to warm up on.
Then...
The Becoming (Traverse) V3
The Second Coming V5
The Groove Direct V5 or from a sit start "Sauron" V6
Intellect V5
Democracy (Traverse) V5
The Trick V6 (If you think you have walked to far...You havn't keep walking!)
And if you want somthing a bit harder...
The Prow V9 (Aeons Area)

Check out the conditions link on www.nwbouldering.co.uk, this gives a resonably accurate idea as to the conditions around the Carnforth/South Lakes area.
Some of Fairy Steps is dry but  in the trees it tends to hold moisture and be very greasy due to moss and lichen.

Good idea - so, does one of you lot go up and check the crag everyday, or do you look out of  your window and have a guess?

When ukb was first set up, I investigated how much a "conditions cam" webcam would be to run......unfortunately hideously expensive, and a better idea would probably be get someone who works in Outside to just leap out and check the rock at Burbage Bridge on their way to work.....
