Lundy - 10th to 17th of Sept
September 01, 2022, 09:32:26 am

Long shot, but does anyone fancy a week on Lundy tradding.  E1-E5 (If I'm going well), but mostly E2/E3 ish.

Got a couple of camping spots and have now found myself without a partner.  There are a load of folk going, but would be good to have someone to go with and not rely on finding someone out there to hook with it.

Give us a PM if your interested.

Would love to go back, fantastic memories, but sadly wouldn't be able to. If anyone hasn't been, I recommend it highly.

I recommend it highly.

Was about to say exactly the same - a fantastic place.

hope it holds! Take more ab rope than you think you'll need. We had one day of bad weather in the week we were there, and it coincided with my hangover from hell. Don't be tempted to take too  much whisky.

Been a few times, so 100+m static ab rope is currently drying in the garden, awaiting packing.  (though I fear the relatively new 20kg per person weight limit is a bit tight for camping climbers!!!)

Ouch, didn't know about the 20 kgs that's new. Does that include hand luggage :)

I think they've always had a pretty tight weight limit but as I understand it it's very rarely enforced. Only reason it's there is so that if you have to fly back on the chopper because of bad seas then they don't have to fly too much kit back.

There's periodic threads about it on UKC and the advice usually ends up along the lines of "as long as you don't take the piss they don't bother weighing anything".

Yeah - they apparently insist that climbers rucksacks are put in the hold too now.  I might try and frig things a bit by having a little 'daysack' type thing to take on the boat but put my rack in it or something.

Cheers remus - yeah heard similar things and to be fair the woman on the phone yesterday was politely saying "just so long as you don't take the piss"

If it helps keep the weight down I found 60m abseil rope was sufficient for everything I did on Lundy (mainly mega classic HVS-E2) with careful rigging. The 9nly exception was American Beauty but even that would be fine with a 60m by using your climbing ropes in addition. A 60m is heavy enough to lug around the island too.
